Golden Bears Place Third at Western New England Invitational

Dias again paces Golden Bears with fourth place finish

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 14, 2017) –
The Western New England University women's cross country team tied for third place at the Western New England Invitational on campus Saturday. 

The Golden Bears posted a score of 89, matching the University of New Haven. Westfield State took the team title (54), while Rhode Island College placed second. UMass Dartmouth (128) rounded out the top five.

Top Performers
• Junior Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing fourth overall with a time of 26:18.
• Freshman Samantha Lewis (Goffstown, N.H.) placed 16th and clocked in at 27:25.
• Senior Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) crossed the finish line 19th overall with a time of 27:52.

Western New England will be back in action next weekend at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, hosted by the University of New England at Rotary Park in Biddeford, Maine.
