Western New England Defeated by CCC-Leading Endicott, 5-0

Dufour makes career-high 29 saves

BEVERLY, Mass. (October 13, 2018) – The Western New England University field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at North Field.

Top Performers
Endicott junior forward Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) led the Gulls offensively with a hat trick, while freshmen Addi Williams (Pittsfield, Maine) and Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) scored one goal each.

Western New England senior goalkeeper Dana Dufour (Gloucester, Mass.) faced a barrage of shots from the Endicott attack, as the Gulls put 34 of their 51 shots on target. Dufour finished with a career-high 29 saves, eight more than her previous high of 21.

Game Review
Endicott opened the scoring just 19 seconds into the contest, as Williams tapped in a pass from Poulin to give the Gulls an early 1-0 edge.

At the 31:24 mark, Poulin tallied an unassisted goal to double the home team's advantage heading into the break.

McCarthy added to Endicott's lead just under three minutes into the second half, before completing her hat trick with goals at 60:34 and 68:03. 

Notes
• Senior Lana Felice (Pawling, N.Y.) and junior Jacqueline Clark (Auburn, Mass.) accounted for Western New England's only two shots with one each.
• Freshman Hallie Robertson (Keene, N.H.) recorded a defensive save in the first half.
