Eight Golden Bears named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 28, 2019) – The Western New England University field hockey team and eight student-athletes received academic recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) earlier this spring.

Western New England was among 131 Division III field hockey programs to be named a 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Team Academic Award winner for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.

Additionally, eight Golden Bears were honored for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the fall semester – seniors Leah Kelemen (Bartlett, N.H.) and Paige Hebert (Enfield, Conn.), juniors Megan Sweeney (Sutton, Mass.) and Jacqueline Clark (Auburn, Mass.), sophomore Haley Daigneault (Longmeadow, Mass.), and freshmen Tripanne Manuel (Bethlehem, Pa.), Hallie Robertson (Keene, N.H.) and Rachel Thibodeau (Mendon, Mass.).

Robertson was also among 268 Division III field hockey student-athletes to be recognized as a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for earning a GPA of 3.9 or higher through the fall 2018 semester.
