Men's Lacrosse Releases 2023 Schedule

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 25, 2023) - The Western New England men's lacrosse team has announced their 2023 spring season schedule.

The Golden Bears will look to follow their successful 2022 season, having won the CCC Championship and making it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2023 season will be composed of an even split of seven home and seven away games, and an additional three neutral site games. Two of the neutral site games will take place in Florida during Western New England's spring break, and the other game takes place the following week at Boston University.

The season kicks off on the road at Keene State College on Tuesday, February 21st at 4:00 pm, where the men's lacrosse team will look to continue their success against the Owls, having won the previous four meetings and going 7-3 in their ten all-time meetings. The first home game at Golden Bear Stadium takes place just a few days later on Saturday, February 25th at 3:00 pm against the United States Coast Guard Academy. The Golden Bears will travel to Roberts Field in Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday, March 4th at 1:00 pm, as they take on MIT, where WNE will seek a win to even out the all-time series between the two schools at 10 wins a piece. The following Saturday, March 11th at 1:00 pm, Babson College visits Western New England, for their first meeting since 2007, as the Golden Bears look to make it 12 straight wins against the Beavers.

The men's lacrosse team will make the trip down to Tampa, Florida during their spring break, with games against Bowdoin College (Tuesday, March 14th), and Nazareth College (Saturday, March 18th). The following week after spring break on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7:00 pm, the Golden Bears will play against St. Lawrence University, as the teams will get the opportunity to play on Nickerson Field at Boston University, rounding out the three consecutive neutral site games for the Golden Bears.

Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play starts for WNE on Monday, March 27th at 6:00 pm, as the team heads down to Roger Williams University. The final non-conference away game will take place shortly after, on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:00 pm, as the men's lacrosse team will make the drive up to Amherst College.

The month of April consists of eight games, with seven of them being CCC games, and the lone remaining non-conference home game. After starting off on Saturday, April 1st at 1:00 pm away at the University of New England, the Golden Bears will have a four game home stand across the following two weeks. The first two of those four games are CCC games, as WNE takes on Curry College on Tuesday, April 4th at 7:00 pm and Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday, April 8th at 1:00 pm. The third game of the home stand will be when the Golden Bears host their final non-conference game against Springfield College, Wednesday, April 12th at 7:00 pm under the lights at Golden Bear Stadium. The remainder of WNE's schedule are all CCC games, including the final game of the home stand, as Gordon College visits WNE, on Saturday, April 15th at 4:00 pm. The final two away games follow the home stand, as the men's lacrosse team travels to Salve Regina University on Tuesday, April 18th at 7:30 pm, then to Endicott College on Saturday, April 22nd at 3:00 pm. The regular season finale takes place at home for the men's lacrosse team, as they look to close out the regular season strong, with a win against Nichols College on Wednesday, April 26th at 7:00 pm.
