Knapp, Catuosco Earn CCC Player of the Week Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 3, 2023) – The Western New England men's lacrosse team saw two of their own added to the CCC Weekly Awards list, as presented by the conference office today. Junior Michael Knapp picked up Defensive Player of the Week while First Year Chris Catusoco earned his third CCC Specialist of the Week award. 

Knapp helped stun the Nichols College Bison offense in the team's final regular season game of the year, hold Nichols to just five goals. Knapp scooped six ground balls and caused two turnovers for the Golden Bears to help guide the defense in an important conference win to lock up the second seed in the CCC tournament. Knapp has produced career highs in every statistical category this season, including 17 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls picked up. 

Chris Catuosco shined in the faceoff circle for the Golden Bears in the win over Nichols College, which included a 17/21 night and 12 ground balls scooped. Catuosco earns his third CCC weekly award while hit career faceoff win percentage improves to 66% on the year. 

The WNE men's lacrosse team hosts the three seeded Salve Regina Seahawks on Wednesday, May 3 at 7:00 PM for a chance to advance to the CCC Championship game on Saturday, May 8.
