  • Salve Regina: 8-6 (4-2)

How it Happened:

Both teams would start off the game trading possessions, as Golden Bear goalkeeper, Carter Randall, would make a save in net, before Jack Naglieri would find Ryan Reilly to put Salve Regina up 1-0, with 11:23 left in the first quarter. Noah Rust would look to tie the game at one, but Seahawks goaltender, William Kein, would make a save on Rust's shot. Rust would then cause a turnover on the ensuing SRU clear, leading to Dylan Hanley assisting him on the tying goal. Each goalie would make a save in net over the next two and a half minutes, before Daniel Naglieri would take advantage of an extra-man opportunity and put Salve back up a goal. Rust would net his second of the game 28 seconds later, to tie the game at two. Over the next four minutes of game time, both goalkeepers would each make a save, before Reilly would net another goal, putting Salve out in front again. Neither team would score during the final three minutes of the first quarter, as Kein would make another save and Randall would make a pair of saves, to keep the Seahawks lead to only one, leading into the second.

Starting off the second, Maxwell Van Winkle would open the scoring for the Seahawks netting a goal just over two minutes into the quarter. Salve would score two more goals in a row, coming from Brendan Treacy, four minutes after Van Winkle's and Reilly adding another, two minutes later, putting the Seahawks up 6-2. WNE would answer with a pair of goals shortly after, with the first coming from Jacob Roy off a pass from Hanley, and the second coming from Ben Kolb, directly after a Chris Catuosco faceoff win. Both teams would trade goals across the final two minutes of the first quarter, as Treacy would score for Salve, and Gregory Perry would then find Jack Houlden less than a minute later, to bring WNE to within two. Reilly would score the last goal of the first half with 11 seconds left, putting Salve up 8-5 heading into halftime.

WNE started off the third quarter on fire and would go on to have one of their highest scoring quarters on the season, netting nine goals over the 15-minute period. Following a Catuosco faceoff win to open the quarter, Zachary Mein would open the scoring in the second half, just 47 seconds in. Alex Henry would cause a turnover on the defensive end shortly after, leading to Thomas Labbe netting a goal for the Golden Bears, to bring WNE to within a goal. Catuosco would win the ensuing faceoff win, and Rust would net another goal, just 36 seconds after Labbe's, tying the game up at eight a piece. WNE would take advantage of a man-up goal three minutes later, as Tim Kolb would find Noah Rust, to give the Golden Bears their first lead of the game. Reilly would try to limit the WNE momentum, as he would score a Seahawks goal with 7:49 left in the quarter, to tie the game up at nine. Following a Randall save and Michael Knapp caused turnover, Ben Kolb would then find Knapp for a goal, putting WNE back up one. Hanley would add another point on the day, assisting Mike Bannon on a goal with five minutes left in the third. 16 seconds later, Casey Johnson would answer for the Seahawks, putting them back within a goal. On the ensuing faceoff, Chris Catuosco would win the faceoff, collect the ground ball, and shoot and score his first collegiate goal, in just six seconds to put WNE up 12-10. Two minutes later, following a Randall save, Andrew Huta would assist Hanley on his first goal of the game. Each team would net a goal in the final two minutes of play, as Reilly would tally another goal for SRU with 1:45 remaining and Ben Kolb would net a goal for WNE with 15 seconds remaining in the quarter. Western New England would head into the fourth quarter up 14-11, looking to remain undefeated in CCC play.

Catuosco would win the opening faceoff of the fourth leading to Hanley scoring his second goal of the game, just 46 seconds later. Both teams would trade possessions the next six minutes of game time as Kein would make a pair of saves and Randall would make three saves, before Rocco Mazzei would score for the Seahawks.
