Three Golden Bears Named to CCC Weekly Awards List

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 27, 2023) – The Western New England men's lacrosse team saw three of their own earn CCC Weekly Awards, as presented by the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Seniors Dylan Hanley and Sean Farland and first year Jacob Roy all accumulated their first accolades of the season. 

Dylan Hanley picks up CCC Player of the Week after picking up 12 total points on the week, which included an outburst in Western New England's first game of the season, a 23-12 win over Keene State. Hanley picked up four goals and added six assists for the blue and gold, totaling ten points in the win. The senior tallied two ground balls and one caused turnover, while taking five total shots, four on goal. Hanley would add two assists for WNE in their home opener over the weekend against Coast Guard Academy, collecting two ground balls and taking four total shots. The New Fairfield, Connecticut native made his first two starts of his career this season and now has totaled 85 career points with WNE through 35 games. 

Sean Farland had a successful opening week for the Golden Bears, earning CCC Specialist of the Week. Farland won 21 of 31 faceoffs, including 15 of 19 at Keene State in the season opener. Farland picked up an assist and 11 ground balls in the 23-12 victory. The Fiskdale, Massachusetts native won half his faceoffs in WNE's home opener against Coast Guard, going 6/12 while scooping six ground balls in the contest. Farland has now won over 54% of his faceoffs as a Golden Bear, going 125/229. 

First Year Jacob Roy scored twice and picked up a helper in his Western New England debut at Keene State. Roy scored the third and eighth goal of the game and also assisted on WNE's 22nd goal of the game to help guide the Golden Bears to victory. The Brookline, N.H. native collected six total shots at KSC, placing three on goal. Roy scooped two ground balls and took three shots in the home opener against Coast Guard Academy on Sunday. 

Western New England men's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday, March 4 at MIT for a 3:00 first faceoff.
