Men’s Tennis Opens 2022-23 Campaign at ITA Regional Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine (September 30, 2022) – The Western New England men's tennis team opened their 2022-2023 season on Friday afternoon, taking to the courts at the ITA Regional Championships, held at Bowdoin College. The Golden Bears were unable to secure a win, coming up short in their four matches on the day. 

How it Happened:
Western New England started the morning off in doubles action, as Nick Bayer and Michael Robichaud would square off with Amherst's Zach Ostrow and Micah Elias. Western New England would win two sets in the match before eventually falling to the Mammoth's duo by a final score of 8-2. 

In singles action, Western New England's Nick Bayer would be turned aside by Trinity (Conn.) Universities Henry Bilicic by a final score of 6-1, 6-0. WNE's Michael Robichaud would be defeated in singles action by William College's Matt Kandel in straight sets by a score of 6-0, 6-0. In Western New England's final match of the afternoon, Brandon Greger would fall in singles action to Brandeis' Chen Liang by a final score of 8-0. With the losses, Western New England does not move into day two of the tournament.
