Men’s Tennis Wins Doubles, Falls in Singles, Drops 5-4 Decision at Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. (April 6, 2023) – The Western New England men's tennis team fell on the road on Wednesday night under the lights of Belmont School as the hosting Suffolk University Rams defeated the Golden Bears by a final score of 5-4. 

How it Happened:

Western New England would win the doubles side of play by a final score of 2-1. Nick Bayer and Brandon Greger combined for an 8-4 win over Hasan Esrawi and Daniel Dayn while Paul Riccio and Tyler Macdowall would step away with an 8-1 win over the Rams in doubles #3 placement. In a thrilling doubles #2 match, Michael Robichaud and Thomas Roche would fall just short, being taken down 8-7 (17-15).  WNE would take two of the first three matches. 

Suffolk would win four of the six singles matches to take down Western New England in the match. Thomas Roche would sweep the singles #3 match 6-0, 6-0 while Kevin Sharpe would pick up his second win of the season, defeating Milind Kulkarni 6-3, 6-0. Both Brandon Greger and Tyler Macdowall would take their respective singles matches to three sets each before dropping the third set.
