Men’s Tennis Opens 2022 Fall Season at Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 7, 2022) – The Western New England men's tennis team opened their 2022 fall schedule on Friday afternoon, traveling to cross-town foe Springfield College. The Golden Bears came up unsuccessful in all nine matches, dropping a 9-0 decision to the Pride.

How it Happened:

In the season opener, Michael Robichaud and Nick Bayer lined up as the #1 doubles pair, though fell 8-1 to Springfield's Mike Kendrick and Pun Thongbooncharoen. Brandon Greger and Thomas Roche would team up in doubles pair two while Kevin Sharpe and Tyler Macdowall opened the season in doubles pair three together. WNE sees three new doubles pairs for the 2022 season. 

In singles action, Nick Bayer came up just short, falling 6-3, 6-1. Michael Robichaud would come away with four games won in set two in singles action, though fell 6-0, 6-4, eventually. Thomas Roche and Tyler Macdowall made singles debuts for the Golden Bears on Friday afternoon, though were unable to punch out a win as Western New England would drop all six singles matches on the afternoon.
