Emily Farrell, Meghan Orbann, and Courtney Carlson Selected to Play in NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic while Farrell Earns All-Region Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 12, 2020) – Seniors Emily Farrell (New Fairfield, Conn.), Meghan Orbann (East Hampton, Conn.), and Courtney Carlson (Woodbury, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's basketball team have been selected to participate in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, the organization announced on Wednesday. The game will take place at the Alumni Healthful Living Center on Saturday, March 28.

Farrell was also named to the NEWBA All-Region second team after averaging 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular season champions.

Throughout her career, Farrell has appeared in 111 games with 77 starts. She boasts career averages of 9.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Farrell was named to the All-CCC First Team twice in her career (2018-19, 2019-20). This season, Farrell joined the 1,000 career point club.

Orbann has appeared in 111 games throughout her career with 83 starts. This season, Orbann averaged 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while posting career averages of 9.5 points and 6.3 rebounds. Orbann has garnered All-CCC recognition in three of her four seasons. She earned third team honors as a sophomore, first team honors as a junior, and earned second team honors this season as a senior. This season, Orbann also scored her 1,000th career point.

Carlson started 82 of the 107 games she appeared in. This season, Carlson averaged 12.1 points and 5.6 rebounds, which earned her All-CCC second team honors. Throughout her career, Carlson has posted averages of 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. 

Western New England went 21-6 this season and claimed the CCC regular season championship. The Golden Bears received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament this season and were selected as a host site for the first and second round games.
