Western New England Registers 12-3 Victory at Wentworth

Golden Bears surrender season-low three goals to Leopards

BOSTON, Mass. (April 22, 2017) – The Western New England University men's lacrosse team surrendered a season-low three goals in a 12-3 victory at the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Sweeney Field.

Top Performers
• Junior Chris Stone (Drexel Hill, Pa.) led the Golden Bears, tallying a career-high four points with three goals and one assist.
• Senior Keegan Dudeck (Longmeadow, Mass.), junior Nicholas Beauchamp (Wilbraham, Mass.) and sophomore Tim Breau (Lima, N.Y.) all posted three-point efforts, while sophomore Hunter Cocks (Walden, N.Y.) went 12-for-17 (71%) at the face-off X and collected a game-high six ground balls.
• Junior goalie Steven Kerr (Hopkinton, Mass.) made eight saves on 11 shots.

• Freshman Riley Smith (Plaistow, N.H.) scored two of Wentworth's three goals and secured two ground balls.

Game Review
• Junior Marc Fiocco (Somers, N.Y.) staked the Golden Bears to a 1-0 lead at the 12:33 mark of the first quarter, before Breau (9:26) and Stone (8:38) followed with unassisted goals, and senior Frank Medlicott (Stanwood, Wash.) scored on a feed from Dudeck to make it 4-0 with just under eight minutes remaining in the period.
• Senior Sean Farmer (Billerica, Mass.) got the Leopards on the board 18 seconds later, and Wentworth trailed 4-1 through 15 minutes of play.
• Western New England outscored Wentworth 3-0 in the second quarter with two goals from Stone and one from Beauchamp, as the Golden Bears opened up a 7-1 lead at halftime.
• The visitors continued to pull away early in the third quarter, as Dudeck set up Beauchamp at the 12:10 mark, before Medlicott netted his second goal of the game (9:50) to extend Western New England's lead to eight (9-1).
• Smith snapped the Golden Bears' 5-0 run with just under seven minutes left in the third quarter, but the Leopards still faced a 9-2 deficit heading into the final period.
• Western New England yielded just one more goal the rest of the way, while Dudeck and freshmen Liam Baker (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Johnny Shahpazian (New Providence, N.J.) all found the back of the net to extend the final margin to nine.

Notes
• Western New England outshot Wentworth 36-25 and held a 34-27 advantage in ground balls.
• The Golden Bears have won three consecutive games since falling to Endicott on April 8.
