Beauchamp & Kerr Collect CCC Weekly Accolades
Beauchamp named Offensive Player of the Week, Kerr named Defensive Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 24, 2017) – Senior attackman Nicholas Beauchamp (Wilbraham, Mass.) and junior goalie Steven Kerr (Hopkinton, Mass.) of the Western New England University men's lacrosse team have both earned weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), the league office announced on Monday.
Beauchamp was named CCC Offensive Player of the Week, while Kerr earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades following Western New England's 2-0 week that featured wins over Roger Williams and Wentworth.
Beauchamp led the Golden Bear offense with eight points over the two games. He opened the week with a hat trick and two assists against Roger Williams and followed that up with two goals and an assist against Wentworth. He put nine of his 11 shot on-target for an 81.8 shots-on-goal percentage. Kerr made 12 saves on 18 shots against the Hawks and stopped eight of 11 attempts against the Leopards. He finished the week with a 4.75 goals-against average and a 69.0 percent save percentage.
In 14 games this season, Beauchamp leads the Golden Bears with 40 points on 30 goals and ten assists. Kerr has started all 15 games in the cage, posting an 11.51 goals against average and a .528 save percentage.
Western New England (6-9, 6-1 CCC) wraps up its regular season schedule with a senior night contest against Salve Regina on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
