Dudeck, Patrie & Ward Among Ten All-CCC Selections for Western New England

Five Golden Bears earn All-CCC honors for the first time
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 28, 2017) – Led by a trio of first team selections, ten members of the Western New England University men's lacrosse team garnered All-Commonwealth Coast Conference accolades, it was announced on Friday afternoon when the league office released its award winners and All-CCC teams.
Headlining Western New England list of honorees are senior midfielder Keegan Dudeck (Longmeadow, Mass.), senior defender Steven Patrie (Lewiston, Maine) and sophomore attackman Jared Ward (Littleton, Mass.), who were named to the All-CCC first team.
The All-CCC second team features six Golden Bears, including senior attackman Frank Medlicott (Stanwood, Wash.), junior midfielder Nicholas Beauchamp (Wilbraham, Mass.), senior defender Connor DeVarney (South Burlington, Vt.), junior goalie Steven Kerr (Hopkinton, Mass.), sophomore faceoff specialist Hunter Cocks (Walden, N.Y.) and freshman long-stick midfielder Oskar Djusberg (Abington, Mass.). Rounding out Western New England's ten selections is junior short-stick midfielder Marc Fiocco (Somers, N.Y.), who garnered third team honors.
Dudeck caps his career with his third consecutive All-CCC first team selection after compiling 39 points (2nd on team) on 18 goals and 21 assists during the regular season. Dudeck, who missed four games with an injury in early March, posted ten multi-point efforts this spring, including a season-high of seven (four goals, three assists) in Western New England's 13-7 win at Gordon on March 29.
Patrie, Western New England's lone team captain, also earns his third straight All-CCC first team selection after starting all 16 games this season and recording 18 ground balls to go with eight caused turnovers. The leader of the Golden Bear defense, Patrie scored his first career goal in Tuesday's regular season finale, a 22-8 win over Salve Regina.
Ward, the 2016 CCC Rookie of the Year and third team All-CCC selection, collects first team honors this spring. The sophomore totaled 30 points (19 goals, 11 assists) while also securing 21 ground balls. Ward recorded at least one point in all but two games this season and broke out for a season-high five points on two occasions.
Medlicott and Beauchamp were also key offensive contributors this season en route to earning All-CCC honors for the first time in their careers. Beauchamp tallied a team-high 42 points (11th in CCC) with 31 goals and 11 assists, while Medlicott netted a team-best 32 goals to go with four assists.
DeVarney, an All-CCC third team honoree last season, caps his career with second team recognition this spring after appearing in all 15 games and recording 11 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Kerr follows up his first team All-CCC selection as a sophomore in 2016 with second team accolades this season. The junior ranks second in the CCC with 192 saves while posting an 11.21 goals against average and 52.6 save percentage.
Cocks took over as Western New England's primary faceoff specialist on March 25 against Springfield and never looked back on his way to an All-CCC second team selection. The sophomore went 120-for-203 (59%) at the X over the final ten games of the regular season, while also securing a team-high 64 ground balls (8th in CCC) and totaling six points (two goals, four assists).
Djusberg made an immediate impact during his first season with the program, starting 15 of 16 games and ranking second on the team with 45 ground balls to go with a team-leading 15 caused turnovers, four goals and one assist. Rounding out Western New England's ten All-CCC honorees is Fiocco, who appeared in 15 games and recorded five goals, two assists, and 29 ground balls. Fiocco also saw time at the faceoff X, going 15-for-27 (55%) in limited duty.
Western New England (7-9, 7-1 CCC), which earned the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in the CCC Tournament, will take on the winner of the No. 3 UNE/No. 6 Nichols contest next Wednesday at Golden Bear Stadium.
