WNE Field Hockey Finishes 6th in Regional Rankings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 16, 2022) – The Western New England field hockey team saw the final regional rankings out of the 2022 season come and go, with the Golden Bears seated in 6th place in the Region I rankings. 

The WNE field hockey team recently wrapped up their 2022 schedule, which saw 11 wins on the season, four in conference play. Western New England picked up key victories over WPI, Husson University, Roger Williams University and Salve Regina University during the season to earn their spot in the top six of the regional rankings. 

The Golden Bears ended the regular season on a five-game win streak, which included out scoring their opponents 23-2. The Golden Bears put up a battle in the CCC Semifinals, falling 5-3 to Endicott College, who was ranked fourth in the final regional rankings of the season. Western New England faced four of the five other teams in the top six regional rankings during the season, seeing MIT (second), University of New England (third), Endicott (fourth), and WPI (fifth).
