Restall's 26 Points and Harrison's Double-Double Lead Golden Bears to a Win over Curry

MILTON, Mass. (February 4, 2023) – Western New England's men's basketball team traveled to Curry College where they defeated Curry 92–71 on the road in late season CCC action.

Records:

How It Happened: Curry went up to 7-4 lead with a three-pointer, a jump shot, and a layup, Tim Restall making the first two basket for WNE. They took a lead after Brian Geitner's layup and Restall put in another one. Curry kept retaking the lead on three-point shots when the Golden Bears would get back on top. WNE's Jake Harrison got them a four-point lead with two jumpers, score 20-16, 11:27. Curry evened the score two more times. The Golden Bears had a small run of six with the help of Gavin Greene and Restall to top Curry 28-22. A few jumpers from Cody Palazzeli, a three shot in by Greene, and a trip to the hoop by Harrison, the Golden Bears had taken a double-digit lead late in the first. Curry stole some points at the other end, Restall shot in another three for WNE, and Palazzeli made the final three points of the first for the Golden Bears to lead Curry 47-32 at halftime.

Curry came out in the second and picked up four straight points on the foul line. Restall and Harrison both put in baskets, and Mike Resnick included a three for a Golden Bears straight seven, up 16. Curry was back on the line for three more points, and WNE's Max Jones three-pointer took them ahead 19, 62-43. A driving play and a shot from deep got Curry back within 15, Resnick answered with a shot from behind the three line, and Restall took it in at the rim for the Golden Bears to be ahead by 20. Him and Greene knocked in jumpers before Curry scored again, score 77-52, 7:54 left in this game. A couple of threes and a couple of free-throws cut the Golden Bears lead to under 20 for Curry in the final five minutes of play, and by the 2:30 it was back to 20. In the last-minute Curry knocked in another three, and the Golden Bears Michaels Ryan mad one of own. The Golden Bears won 92-71 in their second face off with Curry College.

On the Floor:

  • As a team, the Golden Bears shot 53.7 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from the three, and 68.8 percent from the foul line while gathering 37 rebounds, 22 assists, nine steals, and five blocks.
  • Curry shot 44.6 percent from the hardwood, 38.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.7 percent from the free throw line while tallying 26 rebounds, 15 assists, five steals, and one block.
  • The Golden Bears were led by Tim Restall, who had 26 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and two assists. He went 11-15 in field goals, 1-1 from the three, and 3-5 from the foul line.
  • Jake Harrison contributed a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He added eight assists and three steals.
