Restall's Double-Double Leads Men's Basketball to a Win over Pratt Institute

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (February 9, 2023) – Western New England's men's basketball team had a late season non-conference game on the road against the PRATT Institute Cannoneers. The Golden Bears came away with the win for a final score of 87-47.

Records:

  • Western New England: 17-5
  • Pratt Institute: 5-18

How It Happened: The Golden Bears got right to it with a 15-point lead. Brian Geitner started off the scoring with a three-pointer, he added another one later and a jump shot. Gavin Greene put in the next three points. PRATT hit the scoreboard five minutes into the game with a jumper and a trip to the hoop. Tim Restall and Nate Kasper both laid it in for WNE before the Cannoneers made another three. The Golden Bears kept PRATT off the scoreboard for some time while Geitner swooshed in another jump shot, Mike Resnick knocked in a three, and Jamani Alves took it to the hole for a lead of 26-8, 9:18 left in the first. The Cannoneers were sent to the line and got one, Jake Harrison put in a bucket, and Geitner collected his third three of the half. The Golden Bears on top by 20, Max Jones and Restall put in shots behind the arc. The Cannoneers scored their most points in the final three minutes of the first, and the score at halftime was 39-18, WNE.

Restall opened the second half with a hook shot. Gavin Greene contributed five points with a layup and a three, and Cody Palazzeli shot one in from deep. The Golden Bears had a 30-point lead before the Cannoneers scored a basket in the half, and after they scored, Restall had back-to-back layups and a jumper. Pratt knocked in a three, Greene and Restall added four more for WNE. 10-minutes into the second, the Golden Bears had built up more than a 40-point lead. Resnick and Ryan Michaels made threes and Jake Harrison added four points, 72-25. The Cannoneers started hitting their shots and had a seven-point run, cutting WNE's 40-point lead in the final six-minutes. Evan Stewart went to the line a couple of time and a bucket at the rim, and a layup for Alves, Golden Bears ended the game back up 40, 87-47, final score.

On the Floor:

  • As a team, the Golden Bears shot 60.3 percent from the floor, 45.8 percent from the three, and 66.7 percent from the foul line while gathering 48 rebounds, 24 assists, esix steals, and two blocks.
  • The Cannoneers shot 27.0 percent from the hardwood, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 62.5 percent from the free throw line while tallying 24 rebounds, nine steals, eight assists, and one block.
  • The Golden Bears were led by Tim Restall who had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He was 8-15 from inside the paint, 1-3 from beyond the arc, and 2-2 from the foul line.
  • Brian Geitner contributed with 13 points and six assists, and Gavin Greene had 12 points going 5-7 in FG.
