Zogby ties for 6th place in 118-golfer field

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (September 15, 2019) – The Western New England University men's golf team tied for ninth place at the 36th annual Duke Nelson Invitational over the weekend, hosted by Middlebury College at The Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

The Golden Bears, who were tied for seventh place in the 23-team field following round one action on Saturday with a team score of 306, dropped to ninth place despite posting a three-stroke improvement during Sunday's final round. Western New England's 36-hole total of 609 was 36 strokes off the pace set by team champion New York University, which won the title with a score of 579. Willams (589), Middlebury (590), Babson (592) and Hamilton (599) rounded out the top five. Middlebury's Jeffrey Giguere captured medalist honors with an even-par score of 142 (70+72).

Western New England was again led by junior Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.), who tied for sixth place in the 118-golfer field with a two-over par score of 144. Zogby turned in an impressive opening round effort, as his two-under 69 had him tied atop the leaderboard. Zogby dropped to sixth place after carding a four-over 75 on Sunday.

Junior Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) tied for 18th place with a score of 149, following up his opening round 75 with a 74 over the final 18 holes.

Sophomore Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) finished in a tie for 56th place (155), six strokes behind Cox, while junior Peter Garlick (Somers, Conn.) and freshman Ryne Salius (Torrington, Conn.) placed 82nd and 98th, respectively.
