Men’s Golf Wraps up Fall Season with Fourth Place Finish at NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. (October 21, 2019) – The Western New England University men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2019-20 schedule with a fourth place finish at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship, which was held on Sunday and Monday at the Captains Golf Course.

The Golden Bears, who posted a round one team score of 317, improved by two strokes during round two today with a 315. Western New England finished fourth in the 22-team field with a combined score of 632 after entering Monday's action tied for sixth. Babson (589) won the team title by 15 strokes over second place Johnson & Wales (604), while Nichols finished third (620). Babson's Nicholas Gianelos earned medalist honors with his 36-hole score of 145 (+1).

Junior Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) was Western New England's top performer on Monday, as he carded his second consecutive 75 and finished in a four-way tie for fifth place in the 114-golfer field with a combined score of 150.

Junior Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine), who was tied for second place entering today's final round after recording an even-par 72 on Sunday, dropped to 11th with a score of 83.

Sophomore Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) produced an eight-stroke improvement over the two rounds, finishing with a 36-hole total of 158 (83, 75), good for a tie for 22nd place.

Freshman Dominic Manning (Somers, Conn.) and senior Nathan Smith Epaul (Hampden, Mass.) placed 71st and 90th, respectively.
