Men’s Golf Tied for Sixth Place After Opening Round of NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. (October 20, 2019) – The Western New England University men's golf team is tied for sixth place after day one of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship, which was held on Sunday at the Captains Golf Course.

The Golden Bears, who are tied with Suffolk, posted a team score of 317 on their way to sixth place in the 22-team field. Babson College is leading the way after round one with a score of 291, followed by Johnson & Wales (301), Springfield College (312), Husson (314) and Nichols (314). Matt Daley of Johnson & Wales sits atop the 113-golfer field with a one-under par score of 71.

Junior Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) paced Western New England on Sunday with an even par 72, which has him tied for second place just one stroke off the standard set by Daley.

Junior Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) is four strokes back after carding a 75 (+3), good for 11th place, while sophomore Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) is tied for 52nd with a score of 83.

Freshman Dominic Manning (Somers, Conn.) and senior Nathan Smith Epaul (Hampden, Mass.) are tied for 83rd and 90th place, respectively, after recording scores of 87 and 88.
