Emily Farrell Receives First Career CCC Player of the Week Award

New Fairfield, Conn. native averaged 16.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 19, 2018) – Junior guard Emily Farrell (New Fairfield, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced on Monday.

Farrell led the Golden Bears to a 2-1 week, averaging 16.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

In Tuesday's 58-49 triumph over crosstown rival Springfield College, Farrell scored 15 points to go with seven assists & five rebounds as the Golden Bears defeated the Pride for the first time since 2014.

She followed that up with a career-high 21 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in an 80-74 victory over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday at the Neumann Tip-Off Tournament. On Sunday in the championship game against host Neumann, she tallied 13 points, seven boards, four steals and two assists in a three-point loss to the Knights. Farrell was named to the All-Tournament Team along with classmate Meghan Orbann.

Through four games this season, Farrell leads the Golden Bears and ranks third in the CCC with 15.5 points per game. She also leads WNE in rebounding (5.5 per game, T-15th in CCC), assists (3.8 per game, 4th in CCC) and steals (2.3 per game, T-4th in CCC).

Western New England (3-1) plays at Worcester State on Tuesday night before returning home to open CCC play against Roger Williams next Wednesday.
