Emily Farrell Honored as CCC Player of the Week for Second Time This Season

New Fairfield, Conn. native averaged 15.0 points & 6.7 assists per game in 3-0 week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 10, 2018) – Junior guard Emily Farrell (New Fairfield, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's basketball team has been recognized as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday morning.

Farrell and the Golden Bears wrapped up their first semester slate with a 3-0 record last week to extend their winning streak to five games heading into the break. Western New England picked up a 72-58 CCC win at Gordon on Tuesday, before defeating RPI (69-54) and MCLA (79-61) in non-conference play on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

Farrell led the way for the Golden Bears, averaging 15.0 points and 6.7 assists per game while shooting 54.2 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 88.2 percent from the free throw line.

She opened the week with 18 points, seven assists and three rebounds against the Fighting Scots, before recording 13 points, seven assists, three boards and two steals in the win over RPI. In Saturday's semester finale at MCLA, she finished with 14 points, six assists and one steal in the 18-point triumph.

Through ten contests this season, Farrell ranks third in the CCC in points per game (15.1) and second in assists per game (4.9). She is also averaging 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

Western New England (8-2, 3-0 CCC) will be off for the next three weeks, before returning to action on Thursday, January 3 with a CCC matchup at Endicott College.
