The Golden Bears were still down 11 (49-38) following a jumper by freshman Abby Cavallaro (South Portland, Maine) just over a minute later, before Western New England responded with a 9-0 run to close the gap to two (49-47) and force a UNE timeout with 5:08 remaining. Quinn fueled the surge with a pair of three-pointers, while Farrell capped the run with a layup.

Coming out of a timeout, the home team was able to push its lead back to five (52-47) at the 4:50 mark.

Another Quinn triple followed by an Emily Scurka (Billerica, Mass.) layup knotted the score at 52-52, before the Golden Bears eventually pulled ahead for the first time (55-54) on a three-pointer by Orbann with 2:37 to play.

Leading by two (59-57) with under 30 seconds to play, Carlson finished in the post to make it a four-point game.

Chaput got the Nor'easters back to within one (61-60) with a step back three-pointer on UNE's next possession, but sophomore Lauren Chadwick (Gardiner, Maine) made both of her free throw attempts with 18 seconds left.
