Emily Farrell Receives Third CCC Player of the Week Award

Farrell averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game in 3-0 week for WNE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 28, 2019) – Junior guard Emily Farrell (New Fairfield, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.  

Farrell led the Golden Bears to a 3-0 week that included a pair of CCC wins. She averaged 16.3 points, five assists and three rebounds per game while shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 84.2 percent from the free throw line.

Farrell opened her week with 15 points, four assists, one steal and one rebound in a 67-37 victory over Wentworth on Tuesday. She then matched her career-high with 21 points while also recording seven assists, six boards and two steals as Western New England defeated Eastern Connecticut 67-57 on Thursday. Farrell capped her week with 13 points, four assists and two rebounds on Saturday in a 65-60 road triumph at UNE.

Through 20 games this season, Farrell is leading Western New England with 13.9 points (5th in CCC) and 4.3 assists (2nd in CCC) per game. She also contributes 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals in a team-high 34.4 minutes per game.

Western New England (13-7, 7-4 CCC) travels to Nichols on Wednesday night, before returning home to host Curry on Saturday.
