Wrestling wins Tri-Match over Williams and Hunter

NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 25, 2020) – The Western New England University wrestling team beat Williams College (30-15) and Hunter College (46-10) en route to winning the tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Seven Golden Bears went undefeated for the day.

At 125, junior Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) won a 7-3 decision over David Yeh (Williams) and then pinned Paul Wehr (Hunter). Freshman Corey Cope (Quakertown, Pa.) won as a 133 over Dietrich Hartman (Williams) before winning as a 141 over Diego Perez (Hunter). 

At 149, senior Alex Starr (Lebanon, Conn.) pinned Albert Zing (Williams) and followed that up by pinning Elliot Natanov (Hunter). In the 157, junior Ryan Monteiro (Wilbraham, Mass.) won against Williams due to a forfeit, and then won a 17-1 technical fall over Alexander Michelman (Hunter). 

At 165, sophomore Jeff Suschana (Somers, Conn.) won a 6-3 decision over Nick Anselmi (Williams) and Khan of Hunter College. At 174, senior Davey Goodall (Chelmsford, Mass.) won a 6-4 decision over Brendan Kiernan (Williams) and followed that up by pinning Michael McCabe (Hunter).

In the 184, senior John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) won a 10-0 major decision over William Smith (Williams) and then won against Hunter due to forfeit.
