Arborio, Boyle, and Monteiro Named to NWCA All-American Teams

NWCA First Team | NWCA Second Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 8, 2020) – Three members of the Western New England University wrestling team were recognized as All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

Junior Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) was named a NWCA First Team All-American in the 125 weight class after compiling a record of 21-0. Arborio won the Northeast Regional title and was slated to be the three seed at the NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships. 

Junior Ryan Monteiro (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named a NWCA Second Team All-American in the 157 weight class. Monteiro led the team in wins (31) and winning percentage (88.5). He was ranked as high as sixth in the country this year and had wins over multiple All-Americans.

Senior John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) was named a NWCA Second Team All-American in the 184 weight class. Boyle finished out his career with a 24-4 record this season and was ranked as high as #1 in the country. This is the third time in his career that Boyle has been named an All-American.
