Western New England Opens 2018-19 Campaign at Roger Williams Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. (October 20, 2018) – The Western New England University women's swimming team opened up its 2018-19 campaign at the Roger Williams University Invitational on Saturday at RWU's Aquatics Center.

The Golden Bears finished sixth in the seven-team field after posting a team score of 21. Roger Williams won the event with a score of 254, while Regis (71) and UMass Dartmouth (52) rounded out the top three.

Top Performers
In her collegiate debut, freshman Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.) posted a NEISDA Championship A-Cut qualifying performance in the 100-backstroke (1:10.30) to go with a pair of B-Cut efforts in the 50-freestyle (28.76) and 100-freestyle (1:02.48).

Coming off a strong sophomore campaign last season, junior Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) registered A-Cut efforts in the 200-individual medley (2:31.84), 100-butterfly (1:09.85) and 100-backstroke (1:10.77).

Junior Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) turned in a career-best time in the 100-butterfly (1:14.69) and registered a NEISDA A-Cut qualifying effort in the 100-breaststroke (1:18.35).

Also posting an A-Cut performance was sophomore Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.), who recorded a time of 1:19.08 in the 100-breaststroke.

Sophomore Sarah Bartlett (Branford, Conn.) swam to career-best performances in both the 100-butterfly (1:12.13) and 200-freestyle (2:20.25).
