Golden Bears Pick Up First Dual Meet Victory over Gordon, 156-83

Snider wins three events, Mangiaratti & Tricarico post two wins each

WENHAM, Mass. (November 10, 2018) – The Western New England University women's swimming team picked up its first dual meet win of the season with a 156-83 result over Gordon College on Saturday at the Bennett Athletic Center.

Western New England won 11 of the 14 events, led by junior Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.), sophomore Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) and freshman Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.), who combined for seven wins.

Snider was victorious in both the 50-yard butterfly (30.53 seconds) and 100-yard butterfly (1:07.47) while also finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:02.67, which qualifies as a 'B' cut time for the NEISDA Championships.

Tricarico turned in a NEISDA 'A' qualifying effort in the 200-freestyle, which she captured with a time of 2:10.25. Tricarico also finished first in the 100-backstroke (1:09.66).

Mangiaratti collected wins in the 50-breaststroke (36.05 seconds) and 50-freestyle (29.49 seconds).

Junior captain Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) was the top finisher in the 100-breaststroke (1:16.96) while also posting a NEISDA 'A' cut qualifying effort in the 200-IM with a time of 2:32.27.

In the 50-backstroke, freshman Mary Margaret Getman (Oneonta, N.Y.) posted a NEISDA 'B' cut qualifying effort with a time of 33.94 seconds.

In the 500-freestyle, sophomore Sarah Bartlett (Branford, Conn.) finished first with a career-best time of 6:12.83, and freshman Gianna Biolo (Watertown, Conn.) followed in second place with a season-best effort of 6:19.69.
