Western New England Returns to Action with 148-105 Win over Elms

Snider, Mangiaratti & Tricarico combine for seven event wins

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 9, 2019) – Competing for the first time in almost two months, the Western New England University women's swimming team notched a 148-105 victory over Elms College on Wednesday afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center pool.

Junior Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.), sophomore Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) and freshman Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.) led the way for the Golden Bears, combining for seven event wins.

Snider registered first place finishes in the 50-yard butterfly (30.29 seconds), 100-yard butterfly (1:05.43) and 200-yard IM (2:25.14).

Mangiaratti won the 50-breastroke (22.98 seconds) and 100-breaststroke (1:17.26), while Tricarico claimed the top spot in the 100-freestyle (1:01.16) and 200-freestyle (2:12.26).

Tricarico also swam the lead leg of Western New England's 200-medley relay and 200-freestyle relay, which were victorious with times of 2:05.11 and 1:54.60, respectively.

Five Golden Bears posted season-best times – Mangiaratti in the 50 and 100-breaststroke, sophomore Sarah Bartlett (Branford, Conn.) in the 100-butterfly (1:10.86), sophomore Hannah Manolis (West Hartford, Conn.) in the 50-freestyle (32.97 seconds) and 100-backstroke (1:24.55), senior Anna Boucher (Merrimack, N.H.) in the 50-breaststroke (40.12 seconds), 500-freestyle (6:54.63) and 200-IM (2:53.60), and Snider in the 200-IM and the 50-butterfly leg of the medley relay.
