Western New England Drops Dual Meet Opener to Babson, 152-105

BABSON PARK, Mass. (November 3, 2018) – The Western New England University women's swimming team dropped its dual meet opener to Babson College, 152-105, on Saturday afternoon at Morse Pool.

The Golden Bears were led by junior Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) and freshman Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.), who combined for five event wins.

Tricarico won the 50-backstroke with a time of 31.74 seconds, while senior Anna Boucher (Merrimack, N.H.) finished third in 38.09 seconds. Tricarico also finished first in the 100-backstroke (1:07.72). Both of Tricarico's backstroke performances were her fastest this season. 

Snider was victorious in the 50-butterfly (30.33 seconds), 100-butterfly (1:05.05) and 200-individual medley (2:26.11). Her 50-butterfly time met the 'A' qualifying standard for the NEISDA Championships, while her 200-IM and 100-butterfly showings were her fastest this season.  

In the 1000-freestyle, sophomore Sarah Bartlett (Branford, Conn.) turned in a career-best time of 12:52.73, 12 seconds faster than her top effort last season. She also posted a season-best time of 1:05.04 in the 100-freestyle.

Junior Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) and sophomore Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) both registered their fastest times of the season in the 100-breaststroke, as Elliott finished second in 1:16.57 and Mangiaratti placed fourth in 1:18.41.

Western New England returns to the AHLC for its home opener against Westfield State on Wednesday, November 7.
