Western New England in 13th Place After Second Day of NEISDA Championships
Mangiaratti sets team record in 50-yard breaststroke
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (February 22, 2019) – The Western New England University women's swimming team is in 13th place following the second day of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, which is being hosted by MIT at Zesiger Sports & Fitness Center Pool.
Sophomore Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) provided the highlight of the prelims, breaking a 15-year old record in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 33.56 seconds. Mangiaratti was able to top that mark during the finals, as she clocked in at 33.55 seconds to finish 14th overall.
Junior Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) qualified for the finals in the 200-IM with a season-best time of 2:29.01 during the prelims. She improved upon that effort with a time of 2:28.89 en route to a 16th place finish.
Junior Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) swam her best time of the season by three seconds in the 100-butterfly, as she placed ninth in the prelims in 1:02.65. Snider followed that up with a time of 1:02.86 in the finals, good for 11th place.
Making her NEISDA Championship debut, freshman Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.) had a pair of season-best times in the prelims. Tricarico turned in a 5:44.91 effort in the 500-freestlye before posting a time of 2:28.80 in the 200-backstroke.
