NEISDA Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) of the Western New England University swimming team has been named the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Co-Female Swimmer of the Week, the organization announced on Thursday.

Elliott earns this honor after turning in several strong performances last Saturday in the Golden Bears' season-opening meet at the Roger Williams Invitational.

Elliott broke the school record in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:13.35, finishing third in the event. She topped the previous school mark of 1:13.89, which had stood since the 2007-08 season.

The Cortland, N.Y. native was Western New England's high point scorer at the meet. She also placed 14th in the 200-IM (2:29.98) and turned in a personal best time in the 100-freestyle (1:01.79).

Western New England returns to action on Friday night at the Blue Jay Pentathlon Invitational, hosted by the University of Saint Joseph.
