Women’s Swimming Tops Rhode Island College 121-64 in Dual Meet Action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England University women's swimming team posted a 121-64 dual meet win over Rhode Island College on Friday night at the Alumni Healthful Living Center Pool.

Western New England won seven of the 11 events, with six different Golden Bears recording at least one individual win.

Sophomore Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.) led the way with a pair of victories, as she finished first in both the 50-freestyle (27.81 seconds) and the 100-backstroke (1:10.16).

Junior Sarah Bartlett was an event winner in the 100-butterfly (1:08.75) while also turning in a runner-up performance in the 200-freestyle (2:17.41).

Western New England's other three individual wins came courtesy of senior Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) in the 200-IM (2:27.53), sophomore Kim Shekosky (Middletown, Conn.) in the 100-breaststroke (1:20.19) and freshman Renee Lussier (Northampton, Mass.) in the 1000-freestyle (12:51.37).

Additionally, the Golden Bears captured the 400-freestyle relay as Elliott, Bartlett, Lussier and Tricarico took the top spot with a time of 4:14.48.

Rhode Island was led by freshman Hillevi Esquilin (North Kingstown, R.I.), who accounted for all three of the Anchorwomen's individual victories.
