Clark Uses Big First Half to Top Western New England, 3-1

Sophomore Emily Antinozzi provides Western New England's lone goal in second half

WORCESTER, Mass. (September 10, 2016) – The Clark University field hockey team built a three-goal halftime advantage and held off Western New England University for a 3-1 non-conference victory this afternoon at Granger Turf Field.

Top Performers
• Sophomore midfielder Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.Y.) continued her strong start to the 2016 campaign, ending Clark's shutout bid with a second half goal. Antinozzi leads the Golden Bears with ten points on four goals and three assists through four games this season.

• Senior forward Lauren Mackey (Dublin, N.H.) powered Clark's offense with a pair of goals, her second and third of the season.  

Game Review
• Mackey opened the scoring for Clark at the 24:38 mark of the first half, and sophomore forward Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.) added an unassisted tally just over a minute later.
• Mackey gave the Cougars a 3-0 lead with her second goal in under five minutes on a feed from senior defender Alyssa Williams (New Sharon, Maine) at the 28:48 mark.
• Antinozzi got the Golden Bears on the board with 9:31 left in the contest, but Western New England would get no closer as Clark held on for the 3-1 win.

Notes
• Western New England held advantages in both shots (13-5) and penalty corners (9-4).
• Junior Dominique Corveddu (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) took over in goal for the second half and did not face a shot.
