Western New England Opens CCC Play with 3-2 Win over Roger Williams

Antinozzi, DeLima lead the way for Golden Bears

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 14, 2016) – The Western New England University field hockey team opened Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with a 3-2 victory over Roger Williams University this afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.

Top Performers
• Sophomore midfielder Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.Y.) led the way with a pair of goals for Western New England, both of which tied the contest.
• Junior forward Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.) also turned in a multi-point effort, providing an assist on Antinozzi's second goal before scoring the game-winner early in the second half.

• Sophomore forward Lillian McNeil (Marshfield, Mass.) powered the Roger Williams offense, scoring both of the Hawks' goals.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.) made a game-high 12 saves in the Roger Williams cage.

Game Review
• After a scoreless first half, McNeil opened the scoring for the Hawks on a feed from junior Jenna Clavette (Enfield, Conn.) two and a half minutes into the second period.
• Antinozzi evened the score just 1:28 later, finding the left corner of the cage after receiving a pass from junior Allison Jackson (Mahopac, N.Y.).
• McNeil gave Roger Williams its final lead at the 41:22 mark, as she collected a rebound following a shot by freshman Alex Coppinger (Guilderland, N.Y.) and beat Western New England junior goalie Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.).
• Antinozzi notched her second goal of the contest just 2:21 later with the help of DeLima's assist, and DeLima then potted the game-winner with 22:32 remaining.

Notes
• In addition to their 15-6 advantage in shots on goal, the Golden Bears also took 14 penalty corners to Roger Williams' six.
• Through four games this season, Antinozzi and DeLima are Western New England's top two point scorers, with totals of 14 and ten, respectively. Antinozzi leads the team in goals with six, while DeLima ranks second with four.
