Five Different Golden Bears Score in Western New England’s 8-0 Win over Nichols

Golden Bears record season-high 20 shots  

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 24, 2016) – Five members of the Western New England University field hockey team scored as the Golden Bears rolled to an 8-0 victory over Nichols College this evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Golden Bear Stadium.

Top Performers
• Junior forward Michelle Carlson (Hackettstown, N.J.) registered a hat trick and led all players with five shots on goal.
• Junior forward Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.) set up four of Western New England's goals in addition to putting three shots on target.
• Freshman forward Jacqueline Clark (Auburn, Mass.) turned in the first multi-goal performance of her career, scoring once in each half.

Game Review
• Western New England opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the contest when Carlson beat Nichols freshman goalie Brooke Misbach (Guilford, Conn.) with the help of an assist from junior forward Allison Jackson (Mahopac, N.Y.).
• Clark made it 2-0 at the 23:08 mark, and sophomore Lana Felice (Pawling, N.Y.) gave the Golden Bears a 3-0 lead less than two minutes later with her first goal of the season.
• Western New England would take a 4-0 lead into the break as Carlson notched her second goal of the game on a feed from DeLima with 3:05 left in the period.
• The Golden Bears continued to dominate offensively early in the second half, as sophomore Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.Y.) scored on a breakaway at the 35:42 mark to make it 5-0.
• Clark, Carlson and junior forward Jen Catuccio (Southbury, Conn.) all added second half goals for Western New England.

Notes
• Western New England finished with a season-high 20 shots, putting 16 on goal.
• The Golden Bears outshot the Bison 13-1 in the first half and 20-3 for the game.
• Western New England's eight goals were one shy of matching the season high of nine, set in the team's season-opening victory over Wheelock.
