Golden Bears Roll over Western Connecticut, 8-1

HILTON HEAD, South Carolina (March 15, 2022) – The Western New England men's tennis team, led by Max Gordon, picked up their second victory of the 2022 campaign with a thumping statement over Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday morning. 

Records:

  • Western Connecticut: 0-3

How it Happened:

The Golden Bears picked up plenty of victories in the late morning to midafternoon hours as eight out of the nine matches would fall Western New England's way. In doubles action, Nick Bayer and Max Gordon would team up for an 8-1 win over Kevin Tenesaca and Sebastian Frisch, winning 8-1. Michael Robichaud and Sebastian Smreczak would take a victory in extra tennis by a final score of 8-7 (7-5). The third doubles victory of the afternoon would come from Brandon Greger and Casey VanDenBossche, who defeated West Conn's Jerry Narcisse and Nicholas Peschier 8-3, to sweep the Colonels 3-0 in the doubles round. 

Brandon Greger would pick up his first collegiate singles victory with Western New England, beating Jerry Narcisse by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Nick Bayer collected his second career victory for WNE, coming up with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Max Gordon defeated Sebastian Frisch 6-3, 6-1 to pick up his second victory of the season. Also picking up victories for WNE was Sebastian Smreczak and Michael Robichaud to give WNE an 8-1 win over Western Connecticut.
