Men's Tennis Dominate Curry College on Senior Day
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 25, 2022) – The Western New England men's tennis team dominated Curry College Colonels in their senior day match for a final score of 9-0.
Records:
- Western New England: 6-6, 3-4 CCC
- Curry College: 0-15, 0-8 CCC
How it Happened: Western New England started perfect in the doubles matches. Nick Bayer and Senior Max Gordon defeated the Colonels Nick Bell and Lorenzo Russo 8-0. The other doubles team Sebastian Smreczak and Michael Robichaud also came up with an 8-0 win facing Kevin Meade and David Monteiro. The last doubles earned another Golden Bear win. Senior Casey VanDenBossche and freshman Brandon Greger got it done to give WNE a 3-0 advantage before the singles.
Bayer had one of the closes matches on the day against Russo in the singles and took a 6-1,6-3 win. Smreczak match had an 6-1, 6-1 outcome against Meade where WNE was victorious again. Robichaud had the last match that was not a shutout. His opponent for singles was David Monteiro the final was 6-0, 6-2. Both Seniors, Gordon and Ryan Zable won their singles match 6-0, 6-0. Greger got his second win on the day in singles play against Curry's Grant Palmer 6-0, 6-0. The Golden Bears won the match 9-0.
