Men’s Tennis Takes Down Lancaster Bible in Final Match of Spring Trip
HILTON HEAD, South Carolina (March 18, 2022) – The Western New England men's tennis team defeated the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College on Friday afternoon, winning their final game of the spring break trip by a final score of 7-2. Max Gordon continued his good play, going 2-0 on the day, winning in both the singles round and doubles round for the Golden Bears.

How it Happened:
The Golden Bears played tremendous singles matches this afternoon, coming away with a 5-1 record over the Chargers. Nick Bayer started things off with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win over Devon Clemmer to get the Golden Bears off to an early 1-0 lead. Senior leader for the Golden Bears, Max Gordon continued his winning ways on the court, coming away with an impressive 6-0, 6-4 win over Micah Weaver for Lancaster Bible, quickly jumping Western New England in front, sending them to a 2-0 lead. Sebastian Smreczak also collected a victory for the Golden Bears, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Malachi Bomgardner, giving WNE a 3-0 lead. The wins continued on the afternoon for the Golden Bears as Brandon Greger would pick up a 6-2, 6-2 vicotry over AJ Kwiakowski, while teammate Ryan Zable knocked off Devyn Kintzer by a score of 6-3, 6-4 to send the Golden Bears to a quick 5-1 advantage after the singles round.
Max Gordon and Nick Bayer continued to do what they do best on the doubles side, defeating Devon Clemmer and Josh Jarvis 8-3 in doubles action. Also picking up a win in the doubles session for Western New England was Sebastian Smreczak and Michael Robichaud, who took down Micha Weaver and Malachi Bomgardner by a final score of 8-4.
The Golden Bears would collect a 7-2 victory over the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College and come away with a 3-2 record in Hilton Head, South Carolina as part of the team's annual spring break trip.
