Softball’s Carrano Named CCC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 20, 2023) – Western New England softball senior Kailey Carrano has been named Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week, as presented by the conference office this afternoon. Carrano helped guide the Golden Bears to an 8-4 start to the season, playing 12 games over a seven-day span in Florida. 

Carrano collected 13 hits over the 12-game span, hitting .325 for the week. Carrano belted three home runs, including the walk-off home run over Carroll University (Wisconsin) in a 5-2 win for WNE. In that win, the senior collected all five RBIs while going 2/4 at the dish. Carrano ended the week with 13 total RBIs while scoring four runs to start the season while hitting .325. 

Western New England softball will play their first home games of the season on Wednesday, March 22 at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM when the visiting Falcons of Fitchburg State visit Springfield, two games that were originally scheduled for the road, though due to unplayable field conditions in Fitchburg, the games have been moved to Golden Bear Park.
