Beebe's Six Hitless Innings of Pitching Helps WNE Down Hawks in Game One, WNE Fall in Game Two

BRISTOL, R.I. (April 15, 2023) – After a tough weekday brace with the Owls of Westfield State, the team boarded the bus and headed to Rhode Island for a Saturday doubleheader with Roger Williams. The first game saw the Golden Bears take a quick lead in the first inning and ride it to a 5-0 win. However, the Hawks flipped the script in the second game. They blanked the Golden Bears and won the game 3-0.

Game 1: Western New England 5, Roger Williams 0

Megan Beebe took the circle for game number 1. After seeing Dina DiBlasio double down the left field line to score Taylor Keegan and Alex Ferriouolo slap a single through the left side of the infield to score DiBlasio, Beebe went to work. Beebe sat the Hawks down one, two, three and struck out two batters. The same was true in the second, and one more batter went down swinging against Beebe. The third inning saw the Golden Bears double their lead by way of a Kailey Carrano two-run blast over the left field fence. That home run brought home DiBlasio, who had hit a single just before. The Golden Bears had a 4-0 lead after the top of the third inning. Beebe struck out two more in the bottom of the third, and then, the top of the fourth saw the game's final run scored. Paige Baca slapped a ground ball at third base and was thrown out at first, but Keegan got home on the play, and the score was 5-0. Beebe kept the Hawks hitless in the fourth and struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth. Beebe stayed strong in the sixth and struck out one more batter to put her total at nine strikeouts. Emilia Garcia entered the game in the seventh for Beebe. The Hawks got a hit, but Garcia kept them off the scoreboard and helped the Golden Bears lock down the win 5-0.
