Anderson Reaches 1000-Point Milestone as Golden Bears Drop Regular Season Finale at Endicott, 71-60

Western New England will open next week's CCC Tournament as No. 3 seed

BEVERLY, Mass. (February 18, 2017) – Senior forward Emily Anderson (Rocky Hill, Conn.) became the 14^th 1000-point scorer in Western New England University women's basketball history as the Golden Bears dropped their regular season finale to Endicott College, 71-60, this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Top Performers
• Anderson, who entered the game needing just 12 points to reach the career milestone, accomplished the feat on a layup with 44 seconds remaining. The senior forward finished the game with 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line to go with a team-high nine rebounds.
• Junior guard Dorothy O'Neill (Staten Island, N.Y.) shot 6-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe on her way to a team-high 18 points. O'Neill also recorded four assists, three steals and one rebound.

• Junior guard Hannah Shaw (Bar Harbor, Maine) paced the Gulls with a game-high 28 points, connecting on 9-of-14 field goals, including 4-of-7 three-pointers, to go with a 6-of-9 effort at the charity stripe. Shaw also compiled seven boards, two assists and two blocks.
• Freshman guard Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) and junior guard Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) were also in double figures with 19 and 12 points, respectively.

Game Review
• Endicott scored the first five points of the contest and led 17-5 after Pratt drained a three-pointer midway through the first quarter. The freshman made all four of her field goal attempts, including a pair of treys, on her way to a ten-point quarter as the Gulls held a 21-14 advantage through ten minutes of play.
• Western New England, which trailed by the same margin (23-16) after a layup by sophomore guard Meghan Gilhool (Montrose, Pa.) at the 8:19 mark of the second quarter, fell victim to an 11-0 run over the next three minutes as the Gulls opened up an 18-point lead (34-16).
• The Golden Bears trailed by as much as 22 (43-21) before closing out the final 2:28 of the half with a 9-0 run to pull back to within 13 (43-30) at the break.
• Western New England cut its deficit to ten on a couple of occasions early in the third quarter, before getting back to within single digits (54-45) on a jumper by O'Neill with 1:48 remaining in the period.
• Shaw completed a traditional three-point play late in the quarter as the Gulls led 57-45 heading into the final frame.
• Shaw then scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to extend Endicott's lead back to 16 (61-45). The Gulls, who eventually opened up a 20-point lead, were able to fend off a late Western New England rally and hold on for the win.

• Western New England shot 41.2% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc, and 76.5% from the free throw line.
• Endicott held a 32-29 advantage on the glass.
• Anderson becomes the 14^th 1000-point scorer in Western New England women's basketball history, and the first since former teammate Chelsea Vujs, who reached the milestone last season. Anderson accomplished the feat in just three seasons after transferring from Suffolk University following her freshman campaign.
