SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 11, 2018) – Western New England University Director of Athletics Matthew LaBranche has appointed Mike Sugermeyer to the position of full-time head wrestling coach. Sugermeyer had previously held the position in a part-time capactity.

(March 12, 2018) – Senior Tim McLinden (Plaistow, N.H.) and sophomores John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) and Ryan Guers (Orwigsburg, Pa.) of the Western New England University wrestling team have all been named to the 2017-18 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III All-Academic Team, the organization announced last Thursday.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (March 10, 2018) – Western New England University sophomore John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) placed fourth in the 184-pound weight class following the second day of action at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at the Cleveland Public Auditorium.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (March 9, 2018) – Sophomore John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) of the Western New England University wrestling team earned All-America honors and secured his spot in the 184-pound national semifinals with a pair of wins on the opening day of the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday at the Cleveland Public Auditorium.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 8, 2018) – Sophomore John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) will be representing Western New England University at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Cleveland Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. 

John Boyle qualified for the NCAA Championships, while Dom Liquori, Ryan Guers and Tim McLinden earned All-Northeast Region honors over the weekend at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at WPI.

WORCESTER, Mass. (February 24, 2018) – Ten members of the Western New England University wrestling team competed on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute at WPI’s  Sports & Recreation Center. 

Freshman Chris Gresis placed fourth in the 157-pound weight class on Sunday at the NEWA Futures Tournament.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (February 10, 2018) – The Western New England University wrestling team rolled to a 56-0 triumph over Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon in the Golden Bears’ dual meet finale at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House. 

Senior Tim McLinden went 4-0 on Saturday as the Golden Bears defeated SUNY Sullivan and Trinity at USM.
