Golden Bears Finish 8th at Season-Opening Roger Williams Invitational
Sophomore Meagan Dias paces Western New England, finishing 14th in 20:47.13
BRISTOL, R.I. (September 3, 2016) – The Western New England University women's cross country team ran to an eighth place finish this morning in the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational at Colt State Park.
Wellesley claimed the team title with a score of 37, led by the first place finisher in senior Mary Kreidel. Salve Regina (59) and Colby-Sawyer (105) finished second and third, respectively.
Top Performers
• Sophomore Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears with her 14th place finish among 126 competitors in 20:47.13 on the five-kilometer course.
• Senior Amy Grindle (Feeding Hills, Mass.) was the second Western New England runner to cross the finish line, placing 36th with a time of 21:56.90.
• Junior Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) and freshman Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.) finished 38th and 39th, respectively. Silveira clocked in at 22:03.13, while Townsend followed with a time of 22:03.79 in her collegiate debut.
