Sophomore Meagan Dias posts top individual effort, placing 27th in 22:14.38
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (September 10, 2016) – The Western New England University women's cross country team ran to a ninth place finish earlier today at the Smith College Invitational.
Western New England posted a score of 218, finishing ninth in the ten-team field. Coast Guard claimed the team title with a score of 43, while Smith freshman Haley Markos crossed the finish line first with a time of 20:14.25.
Top Performers
• Sophomore Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) was Western New England's top finisher for the second straight week, as she placed 27th overall in the 97-athlete field with a time of 22:14.38.
• Sophomore Amy Grindle (Feeding Hills, Mass.) was the second Golden Bear to complete the five-kilometer course, doing so in 22:36.95, which was good for 40th overall.
• Freshman Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.) clocked in at 22:44.0 and finished 44th overall.

• Junior Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) – 51st overall, 22:58.96
• Senior Rachel Duda (Clinton, Conn.) – 80th overall, 25:03.80
