Pair of Top-10 Efforts Help Golden Bears Finish Third at Blazer Invitational

Dias & Grindle pace Western New England with fifth & eighth place finishes, respectively   

CHICOPEE, Mass. (September 24, 2016) – Led by a pair of top-10 performances, the Western New England University women's cross country team turned in a third place finish earlier today at the Blazer Invitational, hosted by Elms College at Chicopee State Park.

Top Performers
• For the fourth time in four races this fall, sophomore Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing fifth overall in the 79-person field with a time of 26:15 on the six-kilometer course.
• Senior Amy Grindle (Feeding Hills, Mass.) also secured a top-ten finish, clocking in at 26:44, good for eighth overall.
• Freshman Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.) crossed the finish line 14th overall and earned a time of 27:25.

Also Scoring for Western New England
• Junior Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) – 17th overall in 27:47.
• Senior Rachel Duda (Clinton, Conn.) – 29th overall in 29:37.
