Golden Bears Wrap Up 2016 Season with 37th Place Finish at NCAA New England Regional

Sophomore Meagan Dias paces Western New England, finishing 151st in 24:05.41

WESTFIELD, Mass. (November 12, 2016) – The Western New England University women's cross country team wrapped up its 2016 campaign earlier today with a 37th place finish at the 2016 NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park.

Western New England posted a team score of 1094 on its way to 37th place in the 59-team field. MIT captured the team title with a score of 68, while NESCAC squads Williams (71), Tufts (77), Middlebury (149) and Bates (167) rounded out the top five. Tufts junior Brittany Brown was the top individual finisher, as she completed the six-kilometer course in 21:14.29.

Top Performers
• Sophomore Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing 151st in the 406-runner field with a time of 24:05.41.
• Freshman Brooke Townsend (Portland, Conn.) crossed the finish line 204th and clocked in at 24:47.06.
• Senior Amy Grindle (Feeding Hills, Mass.) registered a 216th place finish, earning a time of 24:54.57.

• Junior Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) – 217th overall (24:54.84)
• Senior Rachel Duda (Clinton, Conn.) – 324th overall (27:00.57)
