Kalmer & Bonnet Receive CCC Weekly Awards
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 29, 2019) – Senior David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and junior Hippolyte Bonnet (Lille, France) of the Western New England University men's tennis team have both earned weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), the league office announced on Monday.
Kalmer was named the CCC Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Bonnet collected his third CCC Rookie of the Week honor.
Western New England wrapped up its regular season slate with a 9-0 victory over Salve Regina last Wednesday in Newport, R.I.
Kalmer teamed up with senior Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) for an 8-3 victory over Salve's duo of DJ Bisaillon and Trevor Jones at No. 1 doubles, before topping Jones 6-0, 6-2 at the top singles position.
Bonnet and junior Luke Surawski (Wethersfield, Mass.) earned an 8-0 result over Will Chasse and Aaron White at No. 2 doubles, and Bonnet then cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bisaillon at No. 2 singles.
Western New England (10-3, 6-1 CCC) hosts Roger Williams in a CCC Tournament semifinal match on Wednesday at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.
