Men’s Wrestling Dropped at WPI

WORCESTER, Mass. (February 11, 2023) – The Western New England men's wrestling tream dropped a dual match on Saturday afternoon to the Engineers of WPI, falling 40-6 in the match. 

How it Happened:

WNE could only pull out two wins of the afternoon, falling short of victory. Austin Monteiro would collect an 11-5 decision victory in the 133 lb. weight class, defeating Connor Doran to get Western New England on the board after falling in the opening match of the game. WNE would see the hosting Engineers go up big, grabbing four straight wins, picking up 22 points in the span, taking a 25-3 lead heading into the 174 lb. weight class match. 

Jaylen Hawkins would help guide Western New England to additional points, grabbing an 8-7 decision victory over Adam Marsh, picking up the second win for the Golden Bears. Western New England would come up short in the final three matches of the afternoon, falling to WPI by a final score of 40-6 from Harrington Gymnasium.
