Women’s Lacrosse Tabbed Third in CCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 15, 2023) – The Western New England women's lacrosse team has been predicted to finish third in the upcoming 2023 season, as announced today by the nine CCC Head Coaches in the yearly Coaches' Preseason Poll. 

The top three teams remain unchanged from last year's prediction, as Roger Williams University is slated to take the top spot in the conference while Endicott College is predicted to finish in second place. Western New England has been picked to place third for the third year in a row (2020, 2022, 2023), coming off a 13-win season, their most since the 2015 campaign. 

The Western New England women's lacrosse team looks to build on a 13-6 record from 2022 as it returns four key graduate students this spring. The Golden Bears see Hannah Jarvis (Westfield, Mass.), Samantha Vitka (Stratford, Conn.), Liz Mazza (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and Madisyn Crotta (West Haven, Conn.) return to the roster in 2023.

Ten of Western New England's 11 double digit scorers make their return to Golden Bear Stadium this year, including Ally Ferraro (Hamden, Conn.), Kylie Buchanan (Westfield, Mass.), Anabella Arias (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.), Emmy Burns (Billerica, Mass.), Mia Celentano (Hamden, Conn.), and Ally Hill (Storrs, Conn.). The Golden Bears will be backed by junior Faith Graveline (North Attleboro, Mass.), who made all 19 starts in 2022, earning 12 wins while making 119 saves between the pipes.

Western New England hosts Springfield College for their first game of the season at Golden Bear Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 25 at noon.
